The Integrated and Strategic Transport Plan of the Autonomous Region of Madeira is a framing document of the main investment priorities to be carried out in the fields of air, sea and land transportation in the 2015/2020 period, which is essential for accessing EU funds in this sector.
This document defines an integrated, concerted and properly structured strategy for the region transport, based on existing needs and what the future is expected to be in terms of accessibility.
The PIETRAM will strengthen the intervention capacity of the Regional Government in the sector, to comply with strategic objectives that depend not only of the improvement of internal and external accessibility (land, air and sea) for passengers and cargo, but also of the reduction of the pollution associated to the different means of transport and the increased efficiency and enhancement of existing airport, port and road infrastructure, both in Madeira and Porto Santo.
